"Response to President Obama"

““In a global economy where the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, a good education is no longer just a pathway to opportunity – it is a prerequisite. It is our responsibility as lawmakers and as educators to make this system work. But it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it. So tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. . . . And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself, it's quitting on your country – and this country needs and values the talents of every American. These education policies will open the doors of opportunity for our children. But it is up to us to ensure they walk through them. In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent – a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner, or turn off the TV, put away the video games, and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a president, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home.”
This quote applies to my fellow peers and I because it is our responsibility to make good decisions. Therefore, if we don't make good decisions it hurts both ourselves and others just like President Obama said. As for myself I honestly believe that us youth around the world should take advantage of all the opportunities we are given, and that we should be able to satisfy ourselves and make both ourselves and others around us happy that we got a higher education example if we decide to attend college. Our generation should make an effort to obtain a higher education because it betters both ourselves and others, and it determines what and how everything will be like in the future. Our generation should strive to complete at least an Associates Degree. This concept inspires me to achieve a higher education to better myself and my country. This also inspires me because as a foster youth I wasn't given a very decent life. I moved around a lot and it caused many changes for me so therefore I do not take things for granted especially my education.

My Most Embarassing Moment :[

I would have to say that the most embarassing moment in my life happened when I was in the eighth grade. I rememeber when I was just starting my period and I thought I knew exactly what to do because my mom told me, but I was wrong. I was in my English class and I rememember I satrted to feel something down my pants. I asked politley to be excused but when I go up my friends saw my blood through my pants. A lot of them were laughing at me and I was just running to the bathroom to change. It went around the whole school. I got over it and so did they but it was so so embarassing I almost wanted to cry.

Imagery and Figurative Language

At First, I thought Imagery was a character, or persons imaginaton, but I learned that this is wrong. Actually, imagery is language that appeals to the five senses. I also learned about figurative language. I used to think that Figurative Language was a character or person's actions towards another character. I learned that Figurative Language is a word, or phrase that describes one thing in terms of another and is not meant to be understood on a literal level. The three main types of Figurative Language are Similes, Metaphors, and Personification.

Figuritive Language Games

The best figurative language game I played tonight is a really fun game because…. In order to play this game, I had to match the right phrases to their similies. My final score on this game was a 92 If you want to play this game.

Another enjoyable figurative language game is the fun brain because its really fun and you learn a lot about how to put sentences together. In order to play this game, I had to match snetences to the corresct metaphor. My final score on this game was an 86%.

My least favorite figurative language game is networkquest.com because its very boring and i feel like i didnt really learn a lot. In order to play this game, I had to again match the similes to there correct sentences. My final score on this game was a 62%.

The Foster Kid!

There are many days when I just wish that I wasn't a foster kid. It's very difficult to comprehend that I belong to the County. It's very hard sometimes not being with the person that brought you into the world, and knowing that you were the one consequenced for your parents actions. Everyday is a new day but it's also a day without your biological family. I get even more hurt when I have to deal with not being with my twin sister. It's hard because she is my other half, and we can't talk because her adoptive parents think that I am a bad influence on her. Maybe I am a foster kid for a reason "Everything happens for a reason" and if it helps me become a more successful person in my life then I am very thankful for the life I am living. Well being a foster kid isn't very bad but things can be a lot better. Im only given one life so thats the life i'm going to live. I have a lot of support from teachers, social workers, and staff. They have helped me grow and become a better person. Thank- You!

When I Grow Up :]

When I grow up I have many things in mind that I would love to be. First of all, i know for sure that I would want to be a Forensic Scientist. Why? Well because I love to figure things out, and I also love to help out people in need. Forensic science is my goal right now but I’m pretty sure that in a few years I will change my mind. This profession seems so fun and I really do think that I would enjoy everything about the job. I once had a judge that was a Forensic Scientist he told me a lot about the profession and he even gave me a tour at a Crime Lab. It was cool but then again it was scary because the same day that I went on the tour they were very busy with a homicide, and they had four autopsies. The bodies they was a whole family it included a mother, father, baby, and a teenage girl. That went well and I’m still debating if that’s a career that I would like to have.

Secondly, I would just like to have a great family, and be successful in my life. I would also love to work with teenage foster kids in the future because I would be able to relate to them. I have been in the system since I was four years old. Maybe they would get along with me and ask me stories about how things were when I was younger and when I was in the system. I personally think that it would be a great experience for me and for the kids I work with. That would be my second choice as a job.

My third choice would be a lot better. I might just be a social worker. I feel like if I was a social worker I would be very good at it because I do have a lot of experience with dealing with disappointments, and issues. Not just this but I also feel like I would be able to help others out with their issues, and their personal problems. It would be hard but if I just try my hardest to put a smile on their faces. I really do love helping people and I think that I would fit the job title. All I need to do is work on my attitude and I will be okay.
